Public Service Announcement.

When presented with a link to something labeled "Ben Carson's rap ad," do not click on the link. It will make you depressed and angry.
I'm not going to link to it here. There will be a post about it on LGM at the bewitching hour, Because I like to ruin people's Fridays. Posting it on two blogs would be a crime against sentient life on Earth.

What does "Make America great again" mean to Trump supporters?

The answer will shock you!
[Jane] Cimbal, a loyal Republican, wants people to think about how to curb illegal immigration and protect Second Amendment gun ownership rights, but she’s mainly drawn to Trump because she thinks his plain talk can get things done. Her goal is to restore a time “when there wasn’t as much animosity toward each other, when everything wasn’t about race and people just got along.”
Oh is that all? That's a relief. For a second I thought she might be one of those white people who still resent the fact that non-whites are allowed to do things like express opinions on any topic at all, including the way they've been treated by whites. And you know, exist. But she just wants us to get along. Phew! Who's next?
“Mitt Romney was more my kind of guy: practical, a nice guy."
Ah ha ha ha ha ha! Sorry, I didn't meant to interrupt you, sir. Please continue. [snerk]
"But you know, people don’t like a nice guy. They like this guy because he’s right about us losing our country. I really don’t think we should be letting kids go into whichever bathroom they want to in school. The Democrats are really reaching too far on the social issues. And there’s no retirement anymore, no pensions.”
Now I know what you're thinking, and you're wrong. That was Joe McCoy who is the ripe old age of 31. McCoy also thinks the last time America was great was when Reagan was in office, because that's "when people played by the rules."

McCoy wants a president who will soothe his anxieties about (cover your dog's ears) "social issues" and quell the outbreak of unisex toilets in the workplace schools (which you don't know about because the LMSM hushes it up).

And while he is worried about the lack of retirement and pensions, he also likes Rmoney, which combined with his beliefs about the Reagan era, suggests a very poor eye for detail and crushing levels of ignorance.

Christ, these people. And finally:
[Georgetown University professor Robert] Lieber sees Trump’s slogan as a symbol of his ability to slice through standard political rhetoric: “His discourse is deliberately provocative, but he’s refreshing to a lot of people because he talks about reality with the bark off, and people are sick to death of the language of political correctness.”
Included because you were expecting someone to argle about political correctness, and I hate to disappoint.

In short, Trump supporters look to Trump to be mean to people they don't like. No surprises there,  that is what the Republican do. But why they picked him out of the legions of mother stabbing, father rapists who are also running for the Republican nomination seems to be based on their disappointment with the GOP and the fact that they view this millionaire T.V. personality with the yoooge ego, as the outsider.

That's bullshit. Again and again people refer to the way he talks. It's plain, it's not nice, it's deliberately provocative. What they want, is a man who will call a spade a spade, IYKWIM&ITYD.

They want someone who will make up for the trauma of eight years of Obama being uppity in the White House. And Trump is just the guy to go after those p.c. race obsessed unisex bathroom pushers and tell them just what they think of them.

Whatever. Over to you, Mr. Wilder.

Ted Cruz - Winning Hearts & Minds

So Ted Cruz addressed a group of Arab Christians. How did that go?

Fantastic.

The Texas senator began his speech discussing the need to defend Christians in the Middle East from terrorism. However, he quickly switched gears and essentially lectured Arab Christians to accept and embrace Israel and that Christians and Jews in the region need to form an alliance.
At that point, jeers started emanating from the crowd. Sensing the crowd was turning on him, Cruz claimed that those booing him were anti-Semitic.
He eventually had to leave the stage, with his sack of Talevangical bullshit still half-full. Poor Ted, how was he to know that the Christians in IDoC wouldn't keep a lid on their anti-Semitism?

Just this in - Gov. High Colonic STILL guilty af

An interesting opinion piece on McDonnell's family values.

The legal tack they chose was for Bob to air the marriage’s dirty laundry on the witness stand – describing in lurid detail how greedy, reckless and verbally abusive she could be, even suggesting she was in love with another man – and to invite others to do so as well.
...
McDonnell’s 1989 master’s thesis, written when he was 34, had called on government to enact reactionary policies to shore up traditional Christian family values – among its targets were feminists, working women, “cohabitors, homosexuals [and] fornicators.”
...
Trashing his own wife’s reputation turned out to be futile. Jurors were able to observe that the couple continued to live under the same roof; planned a daughter’s wedding partly funded by Williams; took vacations on Williams’s property; and enjoyed Williams’s money in various other ways, often together.
More proof there's no crime so seedy that a neo-conservative crudbucket can't make it worse.

Bitch set me up defense doesn't work like it used to

Governor High Colonic is in trouble.
A Richmond jury today convicted former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell on 11 of 14 corruption counts. His co-defendant wife Maureen McDonnell was found guilty on nine corruption counts and obstruction of justice.

GOPUA

One of the downsides of non-stop election coverage is we never get a break from the GOP's latest strategy to trick people who aren't SWCM into voting for candidates who hate them.

This has proved to be a challenge over the years and now the average Republican politician has this little quirk that involves being a thermonuclear bigot and shitting on the SWCM who aren't rich and then wondering why he needed street-by-street gerrymandering in order to win elections.

It are a mystery, as everyone's favorite troll once said.

And even as they work to disenfranchise non-SWCM, they also ponder ways to make sure that those few who do make past all the pickets, the razor wire, the attack dogs, the land mines and the leopard, vote (R) before the nerve gas kicks in.

But today, thanks to Hullabaloo, I realized something. The GOP is exactly as gross as the self-styled pick up artist who knows what the laydeez like (and if she doesn't like it she's not a lady, she's a ball-busting dyke!!)

Here's rebRAND PAUL®, telling his fellow GOPUAs how to get minority voters to give it up:
"Until you show that you care about them and that you want to do something about them, you're not going to win," he told an audience in Iowa two weeks ago. "So if we want to win, we're going to have to change."
Um. Yeah. Telling people you're going to do something about them is going to make them nervous. Or more nervous since we're talking about a guy who appears to be wearing a bloody possum on his head.

But Paul II does understand what it means to be a Republican Lothario. Say whatever it takes, so you can score. And he's equally as oblivious to the fact that he couldn't be more obvious if he was carrying a sign that read "I will screw you over and laugh."

Brat gave a clear answer to the minimum wage question

A lot of people have accused David the Fake Baked Bratwurst of not having an answer when Chuck Todd asked the Randolph-Macon econ. professor about the minimum wage. You don't need to read between the lines to see he clearly replied he's another corporate toadlicker who would sell his granny to the soap makers.

Here's the exchange, courtesy of Republicans & NeoCons:

Todd: Where are you on the minimum wage? Do you believe in it and would you raise it?

Brat: Minimum wage, I’m a free market guy. Our labor markets right now are already distorted from too many regulations. I think Cato estimates that 2 trillion dollars of regulatory problems and then throw Obamacare on top of that. The work hours is thirty a week….There’s just distortion after distortion and we wonder why out labor markets are broken.

Todd: Should there be a minimum wage in your opinion?

Brat: Ummm…I, I…I don’t have a well crafted responses on that one. All I know is if you take the long run graph over two hundred years of the wage rate, it can not differ from your nation’s productivity so you can’t make up wage rates, right. I would love to for everyone…in Africa for example. all the children of God to make a hundred dollars an hour, right > I would love just to assert that would be the case, but you can’t assert that unless you raise the productivity and then the wage follows…

Todd: It sounds like you’re making the case against a federally mandated minimum wage.

Brat: I’m just making the case I’ve just made, You can’t artificially make up wage rates, they have to be related to productivity.

Obviously the man replied that he's a mendacious cockscab who thinks the Invisible Hand is tied by too many regulations and Obamacare. He doesn't believe the lazy people who are only working 30 hours a week should get a raise unless they work hard enough to satisfy the Free Market. But he'll throw in something about God's Children Africa because that'll appease the blahs and white guilt liberals and everyone will admire his Can Tan.

I don't know enough U.S. productivity to say where it stands in relation to productivity and wages 200 years ago and whether current productivity supports an increase in the minimum wage, but based on the rest of his answer, I'm going to assume that's a big fucking lie as well.

But what about that 30 hour work week? Here I think this polecat's ass might actually have been trying to be cute. He could have pulled this number out of the place he keeps his emergency bottle of AquaNet, but it is far more likely he's ignoring the fact that many employers are cutting hours to part-time so not only do they they not have to give employees any sort of benefits, but people are forced to get a second part-time job to survive.

I guess one good thing about this win is he'll have less time to spew bullshit over helpless college students at Randolph-Macon. However, I think it would be better if he spent a few months reminding everyone that the Republican Party : Good Governance :: Kinko the Kid Loving Clown is to Mary Poppins and then lost to fellow R-M econ. professor Jack Trammel.

But I'm sorry, I can't stop laughing at the comment about Africa. How many synapses had to misfire to make him mention a continent on the other damn side of the planet in the discussion about the U.S. minimum wage?
